A solar eclipse seen from the Chamonix mountains
To make the most of this solar eclipse, I took my little 4×4 and climbed a little way up the mountain above my home, looking for a clear viewpoint. The conditions were not perfect: a few clouds appeared and my 300 mm lens was a little short for very close-up images of the eclipse. But in the end, luck was on my side: the Sun came to rest just above the mountains, offering beautiful end-of-day light and a few quite magical moments.
These may not be the most spectacular images of the eclipse, but they will remain fine memories of this moment spent up there, facing the Mont Blanc massif.
